Each winter the Public Works Department maintains more than 50 kilometers of roads, streets and lanes as well as the many kilometers of sidewalks within the municipality. We consistently try to accomplish this task in the most timely manner possible and on a priority basis.
As winter progresses, you may notice a change to snow clearing operations. Municipal staff are working to find a balance between cost control and maintaining Dalhousie’s streets over the winter. This may mean that it takes longer to clear residential streets and sidewalks when it snows, and that street widening after storms may be less frequent.
During any snow event, the Public Works Department appreciates your cooperation; please be patient, we will get to your street as soon as possible.
Also, snow and ice control is not a substitute for caution and defensive driving practices when operating a vehicle in winter conditions.
